My Moneymakers

At level 38, I have plenty of cash. And I didn't even need to trade
gold from one server to get it on the other server (which I was
considering for a while). In fact, right now I have 130g and about 10
arcane crystal that will make about another 300g within about a week
and a half. (I had over 200g this morning, but bought out 5 arcane
crystal for 80g). Part of this is because I have an agreement with my
buddy that I won't out-level him. So being the addict I am, I set out
on money-making ventures with low xp. These are the things I do:

1. Transmute Arcanite. This is on a 48 hour timer so every 48 hours I
am logged on transmuting. Cost of Arcane Crystal is usually about
17.5 g on Frostmane, but I can turn around and sell the Arcanite Bar
for about 29.5. More if I hold out a while. That's about 12g every
48 hours just for sitting in Org (which I don't - I transmute wherever
I am and mail the Arcanite to my mule).

2. Find where rare herbs are plentiful and grind them out. Then I
either sell the herbs for a decent price at AH or sell the resultant
potions. Many times the raw herbs make more money. Some I have found
where I can get lots without much combat are:

a) Stranglekelp - Zoram Strand - it's about a 1/2 mile stretch of
water and you can just do an oval around it and by the time you get
back to the beginning, the kelp is respawning;

b) Winterbite - Alterac - just go in a large loop through the place,
nice pickpocketing there too;

c) Gromsblood - Mannoroc Coven. Each run through Mannoroc nets me
about 4-8 Gromsblood, and about the same Bruiseweed, Liferoot, and
then about 200 yards (meters) north in the Kodo Graveyard there is
about the same amount of Gravemoss. I hang out in the Shadowprey
Village there (Alliance could hang out in Nijel's Point) run through
Mannoroc, then north to Kodo, then hearth back to Shadowprey village
to save 3 minutes walking back home. Wait until the hearthstone is
about 10 minutes from being fresh again, then log on and repeat. I
sell Gromsblood in AH for 5.95g for a stack of 4, and sell lots. I
don't know why it sells for so much, but maybe it's that quest in BRD
that requires 4 Gromsblood?

d) I know ghost mushroom live in higher dungeons, but Laban isn't high
enough for those yet. Bathsheba gets those when she comes out of
retirement for short periods.

3. Get the rare formulae of which vendors have a limited supply,
especially in distant lands. Those always go well in AH.

I would really like to find where Khadgar's Whisker is in great
supply. I know Swamp of Sorrows has lots of Blindweed, which sells
well too. In fact, I would say Swamp of Sorrows is the best herb
gathering in the "World."

Anybody have others to share?

Lehi - 60 Human Paladin
Bathsheba - 60 Human Rogue

Frostmane PVP:
Laban - 38 Troll Rogue
Korohor - 24 Undead Warlock

Stranglethorn Vale - all over the damn shop, I know cos I'm too low to
harvest it at yet!

Herbalism is great though, no-one else seems to do it on my server!

Converting one thing (or several things) into something else. In WoW,
it is done by Alchemists. They can buy recipes that allow them to trans-
mute one type of metal into another, and the most popular is the recipe
that transmutes 1 arcane crystal and 1 thorium bar into Arcanite. Used
in a lot of high-end blacksmithing items.

Hey! You're giving away all our secrets!

I don't remember why I chose herb/alch for my warrior, but it was a
lucky choice... I've never had anything like the money problems that so
many others (including lvl 60's in my guild) complain about. I had a
fairly easy time gathering the 900g for the epic mount, while my
guildmates largely said they'd never have the money, didn't need that
mount anyway, etc... Sour grapes. :)

I suspect herb/alch just doesn't sound as cool as making your own armor
or weapons, so it's just a profession supply/demand thing. Herbs sell
for a lot because they get used for many things and there aren't enough
people picking them. Gromsblood sells well, as you mentioned, but only
grows in a few isolated places so is hard to harvest if you have
competition and don't want to play at 5am to avoid it. Blindweed and
Plaguebloom, however, grow more abundantly and sell for about the same
price. Goldthorn also can surprise you on the demand for it, despite
being a midlevel weed.

Unfortunately the arcanite market on my server crashed a bit. I
invested in several arcane crystals at 30g per, when the bars were
selling for 40g, but now the bars are at 30g. Bleah, a wash... and a
bad lesson there for me and commodity speculation. I wonder -- did the
Arcanite Reaper/Champion/Whatever get replaced by some better instance
drops in a recent patch? I should follow that stuff better, given that
my warrior could use one of those weapons.

It is quite easy to get (through a Battlegrounds quest) the Ice Barbed
Spear. See
<URL:http://groups.google.ca/group/alt.games.warcraft/browse_frm/thread/96fe41d275814052>
for my description of getting it. Many people rank this as the second-
or third-best weapon for Mortal Strike Warriors and Seal of Command
Paladins in the game.
