I just built a 1.0 ghz Athlon 266fsb 128ddr, 20gig western digital HD, Msi motherboard with kt266 chipset. I'm trying to format my drive so i can install windows 98 but i get a "boot failure" message when starting the computer. No start up disks will load. I'm trying to get the data lifegaurd diagnostics to load so i can format the drive but it wont boot. I set up the bios boot from the floppy first. i dont know what to do! I tried clearing the bios, nothing, I was gonna update the bios but even that disk didnt boot. Can someone please help me out I'm getting frustrated.
Thanks

I hope this will help a little:
<A HREF="http://www.basichardware.com/HowTo_Install_Hard_Drive.html" target="_new">How to install harddrive </A>

<A HREF="http://www.pcnineoneone.com/howto/clean1.html" target="_new"> Windows clean install </A>

I believe there're some useful info also in README file that is on Windows-98 installation CD.

Check that the floppy drive is connected properly. The ribbon cable connector should be oriented so that the red stripe aligns with pin 1. Also make sure the power connector is properly seated.

Just to add to Spdy.

Make sure your boot sequence in your BIOS is A: first.
Failing all that, try your boot disk in another computer to make sure its fine.
