1440p- GTX 670 vs 580 3GB

I can get a GTX 580 with 3GB for 220 euros or a GTX 670 for about 400 euros. Is the huge difference in price worth the performance difference at 1440p?
(And if I get the normal 1.5GB 580 will it suffice for 1440p? Or is the 3GB necessary)

basically 670 runs a little better 28nm, cooler, faster, quiter, consume less power than 580.
On the other 580 is still excellent choice.

670 can beat hd 7970 in most games but if you couldn't afford to get the 670, 580 is best option.

the 680 beats the 7970 by being crippled for gpgpu compute. pretty sad. and the 7970 still beats it when overclocked. plus 3 free games

Well, I cannot afford the 670 right now. I think I will buy the GTX 580 with 3GB for the 2560x1440 resolution. And the GTX 480? Is it still good for 2560x1440 or is it really too old?

well, 580 is good for that resolution, 480 is too but this one is old and consume too much power + noisy.
580 is the way to go..

Thanks for the heads up. Thing is, I can get the GTX 480 for 100 euro (so half the price of GTX 580)
Is 580 still the better choice?

indeed, 580 is excellent for anything available.
Gaming,editing,photoshop etc.

I think I'd still go for the 580. The 580 runs cooler and quieter than the 480 does, and it's faster. That's a killer deal for the 480, but the card is so noisy.

Yes, this is for gaming but I do not need all eye candy maxed out..
And the 100 euro GTX 480 is the Zotac AMP! Edition, so its quieter.. really a hard choice now.
And here: http://tweakers.net/benchdb/test/974 the GTX 480 only scores 3 fps lower than the 580!!

friend as i told you before gtx480 is very good card, but consume too much power, noisy at load, run's hotter,
while gtx580 is good in those thing's.

Alright, that settles it then, will get the GTX 580 for 217 euros with shipping
And it has a GELID Icy Vision Rev 2 cooler on it
