[Solved] Sapphire Radeon 7870 Artifact problems

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Hi and good day!

I'm having these artifacts/graphic distortions for Guild Wars and Skyrim (pictures below). For Skyrim, I only see it on "login"/intro screens but not during gameplay. For GW1 mostly during log in and sometimes when playing.

I also play Diablo3 and I don't have issues at all. GW1 and D3 are always patched to the latest not sure on Skyrim though.

Any ideas? 'Appreciate anyone's input.

Thanks.

Here's my specs, no OC of any sort and have the latest drivers:

- lga1155 Asus P8Z77 V Deluxe
- Intel Core i7 3770 with stock cooler
- Kingston HyperX 120G SDD
- - WDC Caviar Black 1TB
- Samsung Optical drive
- Sapphire HD 7870 2gb/256bit ddr5
- Seasonic (X850) X-series, 850watts 80PLUS Gold
- Corsair Vengeance (Dual) 2x4gb ddr3 1600 CL9 (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9/B/R)
- Razer Naga Molten mouse (no installed driver)

Thanks ilysaml.

I'll try your suggestions when I get back from work.

Cheers!

Hello & Welcome.
First make sure that your card is properly seated in the PCIE lane.
Then express uninstall your current CCC drivers, and install the latest beta from this link

Yes only on those games and during startup screens only and not on game play except for GW1 where it rarely happens in-game.

Haven't encountered it with diablo 3 or witcher 2.

Yea, I hope someone with a Sapphire 7870 (non-OC) can see this thread and can try it in GW1 or Skyrim if it manifests.

This sounds like the core clock is too high and not enough voltage to support it.

Either that, or a bad card.

I've been noticing some artifacts in Diablo 3 as well but it's very rare and would only come out for less than a second.

Anyway, I sent it back to where I bought it and luckily enough they replaced it. And things are now good, no more artifact. So it would seems like I got a dud card originally, hope it lasts.

Thanks for all the feedback blokes!
