Unlike my last build, this build for a friend of mine.
Low Budget build $400,
No Gpu needed,
he's on sync-master 17" monitor which has just a D-sub port.

I'd like to stick to AMD Phenom II! (970 does wonders for me)

Processor : AMD Phenom II 960T Processor

Motherboard : ASUS M5A88-M Motherboard

Ram : 2 x G.Skill RipjawsX 2 GB RAM (F3-12800CL9S-2GBXL)

Cabinet : Cooler Master Elite 371 Mid Tower Cabinet

Psu : Corsair CMPSU-430CXV2UK PSU

Heatsink : I'll get one H60 or H80 sometime later.

So are these compatible?

Thank you!

If you want AMD, here is a build to think about: Get the Black Edition Phenom and overclock it for better performance.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor $109

What is the main purpose for this PC?
If it is gaming, I highly advise against the AMD for most games.
At $400 without GPU you may be able to fit in an i3.

I am also selling a cheap Intel machine if you are interested:

www.flipkart.com/amd-3-ghz-am3-phenom-ii-960t-processor/p/itmd2rysgmxrhzha

it's BE too!

It's black edition too. Most games usually uses 2cores, main purpose of this build is video encoding and some CS5 stuffs!
I'm buying from India so prices are 40% more than that of US markets!

As for the GPU, I'll get 6790 DDR5 later. not included in this budget!

Alright I changed my config a bit.

Processor : AMD Phenom II 970 Processor (I'd have a true quad core instead of sick 6 core in 4core which may not be unlocked!)

Motherboard : ASUS M5A88-M Motherboard

Ram : 2 x G.Skill RipjawsX 2 GB RAM (F3-12800CL9S-2GBXL)

Cabinet : Cooler Master Elite 371 Mid Tower Cabinet

Psu : Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W PSU ( might be better to keep it at hand as of 125W TDP of 970! )

Heatsink : Deepcool or noctua cooler. But with stock cooler , it can overclock by 4ghz in my case.

What I care is, will the Mobo be good enough? And the PSU?

Thank you! :D

Cooler Master isn't very good for most Power Supplies.
Swap it for something like the CX430/CX500, or any other Antec/Seasonic/PC Power and Cooling brand PSU.

Yep, i think i'll get Corsair CMPSU-500CX for this one.

Btw, 500w will be enough right?
No crossfiring, no OC.
Thanks!
