I am building a PC and buying the i5-3570(Non K) and the graphics card R7870 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC and was wondering if in fact an overclocked cpu was needed in order to run an overclocked graphics card

Solution
lol, no.It's entirely independent of each other, you can overlock your cpu and not need overclock the gpu and the other way around too and both use different methods.
In terms of gaming performance, it's better to overclock the gpu than the cpu, especially when you have a one with 3.4 ghz stock, also you already have a card with overclock from factory.
