In addition to this I am Keeping my EVGA GTX470 and my HDDs.
I am planning to get a new GPU(s) in 6-8 months and add a third monitor for surround gaming.
I was also planning to replace all the fans with BitFenix Spectre Pro fans and was wondering how good they are.

My budget is about $1000 but is flexible.

Any Suggestions are welcome.

  1. What is your current rig? For $1000, you can buy a new GPU and still be under budget.
  2. What are the parts that you currently have in your pc?
  3. I have an i7 950 that is failing and needs to be replaced so the motherboard needs to go as well and the triple channel ram (2gig sticks and I want more than 8gigs). my current GPU is a GTX470. and I hate my case and PSU.
  4. eventually I will chuck the 470 or use it for something else. I was originally planning to drop like 6K on a monster water cooled rig but I put that off for a while.
If I was gonna water cool this one I would put together my own kit (Compression fittings > Barbs).
as for air cooling I could reuse my Hyper N520.
  5. How about this build?
