Lazyman here,
I'm sure the answer is available - - if I weren't - - - - lazy, I'd
have it by now.
Anyway, I never like the look of the two XP themes. Yeah, for $25 I
might have found something in Plus!... (Cheap and Lacy)
However, my profiles became corrupted yesterday and I didn't want to
bother with my putting together my "Windows Classic" config.
I did a bit of tweaking and all is well with the standard 'silver'...I
change the fonts/sizes and some menu sizing...
But? I figured the 'XP Theme' would be a resource hog?
I put it on an old box (P-233 MMX with 245 meg of Dimms). Well, if not
'faster? It seems to be working better...which also may be a bit faster?
Even if I'm wrong!?!
I'm comfortable in my delusion! I may stick with the XP theme...IF?
I'd like to know if there a 'safe' free way to change the colors on the
basic themes. (No, going to "advanced" seems to be limited to font and
size tweaking) I had little luck with changing the colors...
Most everything else I can live with. I don't need a bunch of new
'icons' or new menus.
Neither do I want to stress the already 'old box' any more! So, is
there way to manipulate the colors (only) in the standard XP themes
(for free) that doesn't do anything 'but' change the color.
I did try StyleXP awhile back and wasn't sure if it was all that stable
(not in the day to day sense, but I did suspect it caused me a problem
or two). I still have it -- any comments? Is it 'safe' or is it my
imagination that it caused problems...?
Stardock seems to be the most comprehensive and there is always
Plus!....But I really don't want/need a "new" theme, only a bit of
tweaking on what was installed. (Free and Lazy...)
Is there a 'freeware' way to 'only' manipulate the themes in the same
way one would finesse the Windows Classic style?
If I don't want or need a totally new look? Just some tweaking...it
seems the safest (cheapest and easiest) way to solve my minor complaint.
Sorry for invading! Us lazy/cheap folks depend on the kindness of Usenet..
