I am trying to customize a laptop for my boyfriend and am completely computer illiterate! I don't know if I should get the Core™ i5-3210M processor or Core™ i7-3632QM quad-core processor? He uses the computer for basic everyday use, some schooling, and he likes to study computer programming. Please help!
Do I need the Core i7 3632QM?

No he doesn't, an i3 can do all of that with ease.
If you are choosing between 2 laptops, what are the rest of the specs of both laptops (RAM or memory, GPU or graphics card and other stuff like that).

16GB RAM, Intel HD graphics 4000 (unless I should get AMD Radeon 1GB?), 1TB hard drive. I am not sure what he has now. All he buys is Sony, so that is what I am customizing, if that helps. He studies SQL and Python, not sure what else.
