Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 vs. GDDR5

Im upgrading the Graphics card on my desktop difference between the DDR3 and the GDDR5. Is one better than the other and if so by how much?

The GDDR5 is faster than the 6670, but I'm not sure of the actual gain in performance. I would post one of those charts that compares performance, but I have no idea how. Anyone else who posts on this forum who knows how if they want to enlighten me that would be great

If the card is going to be used for gaming, like alot, it might be a better investment for the GDDR5. If it is more for light gaming, then the DDR3 should be fine.

The GDDR5 version is faster by quite a bit (I'd say around 20%).

However, you said you were upgrading a laptop, but are you aware that HD 6670 is a full sized desktop card?

Wait wait, hold up, I just realized that you said laptop.

Yea...you aren't going to be able to upgrade the graphics in your laptop unless you have an ultra high end specific model Alienware.

Other than that, it is not possible.

Always GDDR5 if you have the option, always always always. DDR3 cuts your memory bandwidth in half compared to GDDR5 (when clocked the same).

Also, does anybody know where I can find out which 6670 is the best? I was leaning towards Sapphire but I'm a noob at all this lol

What is the model of your desktop? The model of the power supply would be great, because we don't want you putting a card like that on like 225W.

Anything with about 300W should be fine.

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 560MT with a 300w power supply.

Then the card should run perfectly fine. All of the GDDR5 cards should work great. You can look for one that comes with a Dirt 3 coupon or some other free game coupon.

They are all generally the same. I'd go with the cheapest one. There are factory overclocked versions too, check the clock speed. Generally higher clock speed = more power.
