It's not bad at all. I just got the 12x10x32 model for my sister. I tested it out by burning 15 straight 700mb files (both disc-to-disc and hd-to-disc), all averaged around 7 minutes. Not one of them failed, had error, buffer under-runs, etc. Its a great drive as far as I can tell.
