Still finalizing $1200-$1400 build

Getting pretty close to ordering. Going to list some general types of parts and see if we can shave a few bucks off.
CPU i5-3570k in mind
Mobo ASrock Z77 Extreme 4 probably
Memeory want 8 GB of 1600 low profile preferred
HD only need 500 GB @ 7200 rpm, possible cache... see below
SDD either 64 GB or maybe a cache type HDD, what do you think?
GPU the big question wait for the 660 ti, get a gtx570, the 7850 or the 7950,
think the 670 is out of my range and may be overkill.
I don't need the very top tier $400 cards.
Case you tell me
Power probably 650w
Optical something decent and cheap
OS Win 7 home premium
Monitor looking for a 24 inch 1920x1080

this is for gaming. the upcoming Arma 3 and simcity 2013. Only 2 games I'm worried about. Possible OC'ing and SLI/crossfire.

  1. Where are you located and where will you be ordering from?

Your best bet would be to go to and put together a system that you think will work and then post it in here and ask for advice. That is how I started and its amazing what I have learned along the way. I have spent the last month researching my next build and it has changed 100 times as I learned more and more, that and I have been deployed to Afghanistan and had no reason to order yet ;) GL in your search!
