I5 3570 CPU Came marked up :(

So, what the title says. There is a very faint semi rectangular mark on my CPU. I believe it may be from the stamp used to put the ink labeling i5 3750K etc marks on the CPU surface.

Is this normal?

Should I try to clean with alcohol or send back for replacement? I will be overclocking this thing I don't want some stupid smudges to raise my CPU temps :/

This is somtimes normal, make sure you clean well with alchohol and use correct amount of thermal compound, you should be fine.

Thanks I just googled a bunch of images and saw similar marks. They are feint but annoying nonetheless. I guess ill try the alcohol.

I am pretty sure the cpu was not used before, it came in the retail box with factory tape etc.

The best description I can give is a very light pencil mark... Again not a scratch... looks like either the stamp for the ink marking or someone put a plastic sticker on it and peeled it off approximately 3/16" in from the edge of the chip.

I am quite certain it's not a heatsink marking.

well if it bugs u that much just rma it, nothing else can be said here, it might be a cosmetic issue for u, but if it doesnt hinder performance i wouldnt bother, ur call
