IBMs made to fail?

I do quite of bit of computer work (upgrades etc)locally and I seem to have found that IBM harddisks fail alot. For example I had to wipe a 30GB 7200rpm HD not too long ago due to a sector error (ran DFT and Erased).

In the past two weeks I've had a 20GB 7200rpm drive and my personal 30GB 7200rpm which was in a raid config too (luckily I backed up only the week b4).

Now is it me or does IBM make drives to fail? Post your IBM blues....

(I've RMA'd my drive and the 20GB, what are IBM like return wise?)

Well what model is are you referring to? I hear the 75GXP has a few issues which the 60GXP has corrected.

Think first, if you have nothing worth more then a dollar don't say anything at all.

I think there are some problem with the 75GPX series. I had two IBM hard drives for two years and did not have any problem with them.

I heard somewhere that IBM harddrives from Phillipines are OK but those from Hungary has issues? Hmmm someone verify this. But hey, mine's from Phillipines and it's running fine (despite quite frequent bad shutdowns...)

I must admit its the one made in Hungary thats failed (the 30GB one). The other 30GB is made in the Phillipines.

Heh the 20GB is also made in Hungary...

So the verdict is hungarian IBM drives suck...?
