Shutdown and turn on

Hey guys, firstly sorry if this is the wrong spot to post.
So my question is, Is it bad for me to turn my computer on and off alot during th day? I shut down from the start menu. I have to do this because my monitor wont wake all the time if i have it in sleep. If so how could i fix that so my monitor wakes up?

Is the OS is updated? the graphic driver is updated?

The only thing that i know that bad from turning on /off frequently are the current inrush when you turn on which lead to bigger power consumption (power bill).. other than that not much....
