Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 LGA Intel P55 USB3 0 ATX Intel Motherboard

First off I am a novice so I'm probably including more info than necessary...
anyway I have a GA-P55-USB3 (rev 2) motherboard, with an i-5s
Intel Core i5-661 Processor (4M Cache, 3.33 GHz) and a DDR3 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC3-10600 (1333MHz) DIMM Kit on a windows vista os. My issue is that I just got everything to boot for the first time and my keyboard will not work... I tried using 3 seperate keyboards that have been verified good on another pc, I have verified that the USB slot was good, I have ensured that the mouse is working and I am able to use the on-screen keyboard option that vista offers and that has worked... I am running short on options... please help
