Good cheap sound card for gaming

I'm using a astro a40 headset with virtual 7.1, I just recently spent over one grand on a pc so I'm hoping I can find a cheap but reliable sound card. My current one cost $55 and was terrible. No drivers for windows seven and was only true 2.1 any suggestions will be great!

For under $100, the only real options are the ASUS Xonar DG(X), ASUS Xonar D1/DX, and Creative Soundblaster Z.

The X-Fi Titanium HD should serve you well. If you cannot afford it get bigcyco1 recommendation.

Have you tried the on-board sound? Unless you are playing your audio thru a GOOD amplifier and speakers(headphones) you probably will not hear the difference. Before buying a sound card, I would at least try the on-board sound.

OK, So you got a "Top of the Line"headset and amp...Now you want a "Cheap sound card"?

I doubt that a "Cheap" sound card will be audibly better than the on board sound of your motherboard.

If you want a sound card, by all means get one. Just be sure to get one that will make an AUDIBLE difference, or you are just throwing money away.
