RAID sfwr vs. hdwr

Has anyone benchmarked a hardware implementation of RAID 0 against the software implementation in Win 2K? Or perhaps had direct experience with both?

I've never benchmarked them, but hardware is faster than software. The hardware does the work directly rather than having the rest of the system - CPU, OS, memory - slowing things down. That's why servers use RAID controllers.
