Woohoo! I'm done with my wish list! (almost)

So this is going to be my first build. I'm pretty proud of myself for doing this, since I didn't know more about the innards of a computer other than the power switch.

The last part of my build I need is a case. I'll be looking for a case around 110$ and 70$, and I'll pick the one I feel has the greatest bang for buck factor. It will be a mid tower atx case.

Well, here's my wish list.

If there's any recommendations or comments I have on my build, please do say. I've been second guessing myself quite a bit over the last few weeks, and I won't stop now.

Also, could you guys rate my build? It will probably end up around 890-900$. Also consider its my first build :3

More about woohoo list almost
  1. Your link doesn't work. You'll need to use either PC Part Picker or list the items individually.

Oh g-unit mate. All it takes is a bit of improvisation to make the link visible to you.

    TADA! :)

OP: Spend $100 more on a Radeon 7850. Pairing such a powerful CPU with a weak GPU is going to have low fps in games.
  3. I second the 7850, pump it to a 7950 if you can push the budget. Note the GTX 660 is supposed to be coming this month and prices will fall yet again.

not to mention that you can get a pc and power cooling Mk3 600w for 50 bucks
  5. A bargain! Go get it! :)

I'd definitely go with the 7850. I also didn't see a case listed - I'm taking it that's not needed?
  7. heres the psu i was talking about

    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0380192

    69.99 with 20 dollar MIR=50 bucks
  8. No I still need a case. I was wondering if I could get some suggesions? Also, how weak is the 6850? It seemed like a good price/power item. Besides, my max buget is around 950 :/

Anywho, I plan on crossfiring it near black friday.
  9. the 6850 is not a good deal. the 6870 is like 10-20 bucks more at newegg.

a nice cheap case would be the antec one or the antec 302. about the same
  10. Get a cheaper PSU. A good 600W is $50-$60. Spend the money towards a 7850.
  11. yeah the mk3 600w for 49.99 after 20$ mir
  12. MIR.. May or may not come true, so at $70, it is an OK deal.

On a $950 budget I'd suggest something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

    CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Newegg)
    Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($117.86 @ Newegg)
    Memory: Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($43.99 @ Newegg)
    Storage: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card ($284.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ Newegg)
    Power Supply: Corsair 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg)
    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) ($99.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $961.79
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

  14. Change the above PSU to an Antec EA550W.
  15. I don't think I'll change my gpu. Like I said, I'm going to cf it when cyber Monday comes around. The tomshardware best gpu for the money ranks the 6850 as equal to a 7870. Not bad, considering it will be 100$ less.
  16. what the heck?????

    a 7870 is comparable to a gtx580

    a 6850 is comparable to a 560SE or a 7770

im pretty sure you mean crossfire
  17. Actually, the 7850 at STOCK is comparable to the 560ti 448 core. When OCed, it is ALMOST equal to a GTX 580. The 7870 is equal to a GTX 570, and when OCed, it is equal to a GTX 580, if not a bit better.
  18. the 7870 is a tad better than the 580 if you oc. otherwise it would be a bit faster than the 570
  19. Yeah. :)
  20. So everything will work together right?

And do you guys have any case suggestions? I don't like most tbh :/ I'm looking for a mid tower.

Check out the Corsair 300R that I linked to - it's one of the best cases in its' price range.
  22. I like the spinpoint f3 but now there's a ton of horror stories ever since seagate took over :/
  23. meh. odds are that you are going to get a good drive. if not, just RMA. if you are really worried, backup your drive every week or so
  24. Isn't there like a test that works the hard drive really hard? A read write test to eliminate any early errors?
