Here's the difference:

SB Live Value: No 3rd channel/digital out (orange)
5.1 cards (OEM, X-gamer, MP3+): same card, different sofware, digital out
Platinum: same as 5.1, except more software and the Live Drive

Actualy, the value line does have digital output on it, it just does not have 5.1 decoding attatched to it, if you have a digital amp or receiver, it will put out a digital signal, as long as you get the proper miniplug to coax converter, or buy a digital add on card. I just received the Hoontech SB DB III board that has optical and coax inputs and outputs. will test it out later and tell you guys how it works. For only $42 it sure beats buying the Platinum.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
