Is GTX 670 an awful card for not so recent games?

GTX 480 running Heroes of Newerth and LoL runs at incredible FPS and really smooth.
GTX 670 running Heroes of Newerth and LoL runs it worse than my old 5750 HD.

In Heroes of Newerth, looking at the whole map, maxed out graphics (but with refraction turned OFF):
Radeon HD 5750 - 60 fps
EVGA GeForce GTX 480 - 125 fps (maxed out)
Asus Direct CU II GTX 670 - 40 fps

Read around other forums people saying it's broken for Directx 9, others say the gtx 600 series sucks for non-recent games.
I have the latest bios, drivers and everything up to date.
What really bothers me is that the GPU Usage of the GTX 670 never goes higher than 35% when playing these not so recent games.

Since I know people here at Tom's hardware know better, was wondering if anyone here knew of a solution? :D

Its most likely a driver optimisation issue, nVidia will obviously put their efforts into optimising Kepler for the most modern and most popular games so to please the majority of people, then gradually focus their attention on the older titles.

I play Halo 2 vista on the PC and My frame rate is locked at 60 fps with 30% GPU usage, On tribes Ascend Its 50-70 % GPU Usage and 60 fps consistently.

This is with my EVGA Gtx 670

V-Sync on?

Thats cool, is there no way to increase the GPU usage so I don't drop to 40 fps?

Oh and this is without recording. I like to record stuff and with this GTX 670 the 40 fps in this case would drop to 20.

With the GTX 480 the 125 fps would only drop to 60 ._.

I just got an Asus DirectCuII TOP GTX 670 and I'm noticing issues with d3d 9 as well. Dolphin runs way worse than it did with my old HD 6950. I hope nVidia will try to address these d3d 9 issues in their future driver updates. I think the only thing we can do is go bitch about it on their forums and hope they listen.

I had issues like this with my gigabyte gtx670 oc eddition found that my motherboard bios was out of date try updating that and see if it helps your fps issues.
