Despite the heat and power consumption that I can both deal with, the raw power between these cards, which is the better card? If I can pick up a GTX 590 for around $360 should I do it?

Basically, like 90% of the tests the GTX 590 wins!

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww NO

do NOT get the 590 over the 680... sure the average framerates may be higher, but your experience will NOT be smoother:

GTX 590 is about 10% faster than GTX 680, but there are many disadvantage hold you back from getting GTX 590.

But hell ya, $360 is a sweet deal. Is it a new card?

I'm saying I was seeing a few good offers for them on Ebay and what not, and was wondering what you guys suggest? Basically if I can find a new one for >$400 should I go for it?

If it were me, no.

With a $400 budget, get a GTX 670. Overclock it if you like. Will get you close to the avg. performance of a 590 but with much smoother framerates overall due to no stuttering.
