SLI/XFIRE Setup Upgrade?

Hey guys I have the money to invest in a nice GPU setup, I am coming from just a single HD 6870 BE and selling it to a friend and I am wanting a nice gaming setup for my ASUS 24'' LED @ 1920x1080p. I have funds upto $700 as my budget. Should I get two good cards and sli/xfire or stick with just getting a single card? If you guys can hook me up with some really good ideas if possible. Something that would keep me not needing an upgrade in sometime would be great, and not needing to have to worry about upgrading for any new games for a bit. I have an i5 2500k @ 4.6Ghz + Corsair H80 Liquid Cooling, 8gb ddr3 1600mhz, Corsair TX 750W V2 80 plus bronze certified, Gigabyte UD3H-B3 Z68X Motherboard. Thanks!

More about xfire setup upgrade
  1. GTX 670 single card or GTX 680 single card. Then you can upgrade to sli later.
  2. I guess one of those will probably due for now, and I might have to upgrade my power supply if I get a 680 down the road to SLI or just sell and upgrade.
  3. ^yep, I agree with you.
  4. Anyone else any other suggestions, the 7870s are too expensive to really think about getting those and Crossfiring, plus the hassle, microstuttering and other issues.
  5. I know the new MSI GTX 680 Lightning is coming out, as well as the 7970 x2 and the EVGA GTX 680 Classified. I may end up getting one of those. The 690 is just too damn expensive.
  6. Yup, it certainly is expensive.

Yeah, I don't have an extra grand to throw around right now unless I just wait it out and I don't know if it's really worth it anyway, I could possibly wait it out but a grand for just a video card, it's almost too much to even invest in lol
  8. What do you think about if I could get a new ASUS GTX 590 for like $360, is that a good deal or should I pass it up?
  9. Indeed, I agree lol.
  10. I'm really just waiting to get paid the end of this week coming up and then make a final decision or see what good deals are out there now. I am pretty sure some new GTX 680s, 7970s hitting the market soon too, like by the end of this week or next week.
  11. Yep, there is news on new 7970's and GTX 680's coming out. Looks crazy.
  12. Yeah, I will definitely wait and check them out I think, since I have the funds, with one of those new cards I may not need to get a 670 and SLI them and just use a single gpu solution which is usually a much better option anyway.
