hi there, I recently bought a 9800gtx to replace my 8500gt the problem is when I have the 9800gtx in it just doesnt boot, stays on a black screen. I don't know what the problem is because i'm almost certain my specs are upto scratch for it. here they are;

Asrock N7AD-SLI with pci-e 2.0 motherboard
4GB ddr2 ram 800ghz
pentium D 945 3.4ghz cpu
200GB sata hdd
Corsair GS500w PSU with 39a on a single 12v rail
windows 7 32 bit ultimate

I was thinking it could be a problem with the drivers but then I didn't think that post boot used graphics drivers, I've also tried switching between the two dvi connections but still no boot. Any light you guys could shed on the situation would be great. Thanks

Did you connect the two 6-pin connectors directly from your power supply to your graphics card?

assuming its slotted and connected correctly. the card may be dead, can you return it?

I did yes, tried it with the two 6pins from my psu then with some 4 pin molex to 6 pin converters still nothing.

Then I'm afraid the card may be dead. You should return it to the seller.

I'm almost certain it is slotted and connected correctly. I am unsure, I got it off ebay but there was nothing in the description about it being a faulty card so I think I may have some rights to return, I'll look it up.
