Which CPU should I buy i7 2600 @3.4 or FX 8350 @4.0?

Hello

I am thinking of upgrading my cpu, so I have chosen core i7 2600 by intel, you must be thinking why not 2600k so its just I don't want to overclock, so this should be enough for me. I will be using it mostly for video encoding/transcoding. I am a gamer as well, but I play only some selective titles. I am not hardcore.

Another option is FX8350 by amd with 8 cores, I have heard that its 8 cores are like quad core, also seen many benchmarks in video encoding, intel goes down by some numbers and amd rocks when multithreaded intense apps are used for encoding, and amd is slow when it comes to pair of core, so individual cores are very slow and intel rocks for single threaded apps as well as multi.

When it comes to price, I can get amd for $230 and intel for $380, now there is another deal, a retailer is selling me same i7 2600 in sealed condition for $235 but there is no fan included!! He is also selling i5 3550 for $183 and i7 3770 for $312 (without fan)(with 3 years limited manufacturer warranty),(same goes for i7 2600 as well) but I am not gonna buy i5 3550 and i7 3770 is i can't afford.

As for AMD, I couldn't sleep last night, reviewing benchmarks of intel and amd, first I thought it was good but honestly 19 out of 20 people are suggesting intel over AMD, Its just made me more confused.

So what do u think I should do? He said the cpu chip is in sealed condition, only fact is no processor fan included, New original costs $12... So you think I should buy this. Please don't suggest me 2600k as i am on tight budget. I have currently core i3 first generation fan lga1156, I think it might fit on lga1155 board!! do you think? Please help me
solve my confusion so I can buy without any hassle.

Thank you

Yeah it's 8 threads are 4 cores, it only has 4 FPUs.
- They market it as an 8 core processor as they know their fanbase will support them until they lose another 5% market share.

You're being ripped off on those Intel processors.
- Walk away from a bad deal, every time.

Please don't become another one of those idiots that damages his motherboard trying to install a LGA1155 on LGA1156, or LGA1156 on LGA1155!

The CPU dictates the 99th percentile of frames, and even higher, the CPU does bottleneck the video card, the question is what percentage of the time is spent under X fps?
- The below graph demonstrates this pretty clearly.

The AMD-8350 chokes it pretty badly!

Well, the 8350 won't bottleneck you to the point that your FPS drops below 60, so it's a non-issue really.
- Anything over 16.666~ ms is under 60fps!

crysis-latency.gif

- Looks like a really bad deal to me.
- The above graph was taken from a Radeon HD 7970 3GB card using v12.3 of the drivers.

The Core i5 outperforms the AMD-8350 in every game, the performance isn't close.
- 'performance' including the minimum frame rate, 99th percentile and stuttering issues, etc.

1 in 8 frames will stutter on the AMD-8350 due to it's design, the Intel Core i5 is much smoother.
- The reason for this is that it is really just a 4 core CPU with SMT, the resource contention within the AMD-8350 makes it terrible to game on.

Thanks for reply, i think you misunderstood me about sockets, i am not trying to fit a lga1155 socket supported cpu into a lga1156 socket, what i said was the processor fan that can be installed on lga 1156 is fully compatible with lga1155 socket motherboard, so there will be no problem in using my i3's cpu fan in new motherboard, i will be using Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H. motherboard.

The guy's feedback score is 100% how could it be fake? i seriously doubt that!!! 10 items was available when it started, now only 4 left in stock.

Yeah, AMD FX8350 is slow for gaming also slow for single threaded applications but multi threaded apps really takes advantage of it, then it outperforms even 2600k, but only when its all cores are utilized to 99%, Well i already set my mind on Intel Core i7 2600 with Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H or MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard. I think that's all the processing power i need...
