I got a compaq presario cq40 laptop with windows 7 ultimate, when i connect to my wifi network everything appears to be working, it connects perfectly and shows signal, but when i open mozilla or IE it cant open any site. I cant even ping google or yahoo, i tried to see if a proxy was set wrongly but they were disabled, even windows troubleshooter says there is no problem with the connection, "update programs" such as apple updater and avast antivirus dont work too, thanks in advance

Check your IP's first.
If it is set to auto optain release and renew your IP via Command prompt.
If you need help with this, ask me.

Ok.
Start > Control panel > Network and sharing centre > Local area connections (top right at active connections) > Internet protocol version 4 > It should be set to Obtain Automatically.
