Processor update

I have a 1501 dell inspirion want to update processor and it would not reboot when I changed it out has a 64x2 proc.made in 2005 want to update to a faster newwer one what do I need to do??///
Up dated ram to 2 2gigs x2.Has a regular proc. from when it was built.

You probably need to update your motherboard BIOS to a later version that recognizes the newer CPU. Do that with the old CPU installed.

inspiron 1501 is a laptop that can sun a sempron or turion processor. The tl 60 should work

I would strongly suggest getting a new laptop. There is very little upgrade possibility in laptops as the sockets change more frequently than in desktops and there is no consideration for backwards compatibility. The Turion 64 X2s are the fastest chips available for that laptop so if you already have one, the best you can do is to possibly put in one that's a few hundred MHz faster is all. At the end of the day it's still a six year old chip.

i agree with the above, buying a new cpu isnt worth ur money, best bet save up for a new laptop
