Approximate Purchase Date:this month (the closer the better)

Budget Range: (e.g.: 700-800) Before Rebates; After Shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: programming, 3d modeling with maya and zbrush, gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies(just DVDs), I also have usually 15-20 tabs open in firefox.

Are you buying a monitor:later(price not included)

Parts to Upgrade: (e.g.: CPU, mobo, RAM, case, power supply (everything that goes in the case.

Do you need to buy OS:No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: e.g.: newegg.com, ncix.com, tigerdirect.com any others with good ratings?

Location: Michigan, United States

Parts Preferences: none performance and reliability is all that matters

Overclocking: Maybe a little

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe (doesn't have to be now)

Your Monitor Resolution: idk yet

Additional Comments: would like the case to have a window, and look nice. Programs I use are zBrush, Maya, Code::Blocks, Diablo 3, and other everyday programs. I would like to have at least 8gb of ram and a dedicated gpu.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Using an AMD 64 3500+ right now and its just not cutting it; it can't handle games or my modeling.

Include a list of any parts you have already selected with descriptively labeled links for parts. Please do not post only links.

I have been looking at parts like the i5 3570k, coolermaster storm scout case, and the asrock extreme4 mobo.

Thanks :)

For the Case, I would recommend the 50$ Cooler Master 430 or the 100$ Antec Nine Hundred, both of which have windows. Maybe go AMD for the CPU with one of their 6 or 8 core models that are about $180. Make sure your mobo has plenty of expansion slots, at least 7, if not 10.

I'd rather get the Eleven Hundred for its cable management.

The HAF 912 or Corsair 400R would be far better choices for the prices recommended. I'd also second the Antec 1100 but it's definitely much bigger than the latter cases.

I would not go AMD FX when any Intel Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge build completely destroys them.

Not to mention, AMD Phenoms destroy them too.

Thanks for the excellent reply and I have decided to use this build except I will go with 8gb of ram and the Coolermaster storm scout case. Thankyou :)
