Hello... I have recently got Emachines W3609 desktop, and, Since i heard that the CPU ain't that good for gaming... (IE: Minecraft, Gt-legends, Combat arms, Team fortress 2, Garry's mod) I was wondering if i could find a diffferent CPU for the motherboard in the system (the system is stock, Until i get a new GPU and things) So, Is there any Pentium 4 or Pentium D i could use?

Parts im upgrading:

Ram: 4gb (although on a 32 bit system... XP)

GPU: His Radead 5450 512 MB

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX42181

Powersupply: 500 W

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX35072

(im not planning to heavy game... Like, If possible, I might be able to run world of tanks, but if not, it doesnt matter, Just wondering if the setup is good.... Still need the CPU info)

Thanks for any answers :sol:

Best solution

That's a 2006-7 era build and it was low end at the time. Do not put any more money into that computer, it won't solve the problem and you'll end just throwing money away.

You are looking at pretty much a full rebuild to get that into any kind of shape for even low end games. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thats what they say, But that is what Emachines tested with, They didn't bother testing with 4gb ram. The board does support 4gb ram... :

That's what the chipset document says however OEMs have been known to oppose their own limitations on the motherboard but your welcome to try.

Your Core 2 Duo in your laptop is faster than a Celeron D/Pentium 4/most Pentium Ds however, the GMA X3100 in the 965 chipset would be weaker than a graphics card you could upgrade to.

Okay thanks... So, This should run games better then my laptop? if so, Im also planning to find a Pentium 4 Dual core for the 775 socket to fit in the Motherboard... Im still gonna go ahead for the upgrade.. Cant stand to play minecraft on this thing...
