Ok so I have bought the RAM, case, hard drive, and OS. Now I was going to buy this XFX 6870 but after a drastic price difference between what PCPartPicker and Newegg said and after reading more about the overheating issues with this specific card, I decided that I was going to pick a different one but I was just confusing myself with all the numbers. So with that said, if any one could point me to a good card for a first time builder and first time PC gamer with a budget for a card topping about $170 that would be much appreciated.

More about what card
  1. this card should be a little better than the one you're looking at...
and it also should be in your price range... or a little over.

    SAPPHIRE 11201-00-20G Radeon HD 7770

  2. Alright, now I don't really have a preference between AMD and NVIDIA so I'm basically a slave to numbers. What kind of differences would appear between the two?
  3. Well thank you both, I guess I'm just going to compare those and pick one some time tonight because I wanna get this thing done. Thanks again.
  4. I'd go the gtx 560. The cards are so close I'd go with the one with better driver rep. But both are good picks.
