The 460 is a decent card and a great deal for 90 bucks. My friend upgraded from 8800gt to 460 768mb that's somewhat less powerful than the 1gb version with a 1920X1200 monitor and he's satisfied.

If you're able to get the 1gb model for 90 bucks then it's a great deal.

What do you mean on par the 6850 is better then gtx 460
http://www.hwcompare.com/8114/geforce-gtx-460-vs-radeon-hd-6850/
and i suggest the 7770 because it draw less power

i agree with jeffredo, AMD may be better in power usage but in the end, we want better FPS, the 460 is marginally faster than 6850 and 7770 but draws more power
6850 vs 460 1GB

plus hwcompare.com isnt a good bench site, they dont do their own reviews, they just post the claimed stats from manufacturers

So you are telling me that hwcompare is wrong if it is then i should upgrade my benchmarking site
yes, you should never look at hwcompare for benches, go to different bench sites such as tomshardware/guru3d/anandtech/tweaktown who do their own reviews and post results from their own findings

i agree to an extent but hwcompare do get the specs correct.. i.e. texel rate, power draw. etc.. but for games benchmarks, they are wrong most of the time

it depends how you want to play your game. if you have 1080p monitors and like to max out all the setting then the card will have to struggle a bit. but if you're on low res like 1680x1050 and below you can max out almost all games available out there except a few pc exclusive that was meant to punish your gpu (metro 2033, crysis, the witcher 2 with uber sampling).

gamers does not care about specs. what they care is Frame Per Second :p . tech sites like toms, TPU, TR and many other put the card to test so we know how the card will fare in real gaming application
