Hello,

I need some help in picking what PSU I should buy. I have already ordered the Antec, though I can change it if I need to. I understand Antec is considered a better brand, but both have at least 80% efficiency. The only reason I would go for the OCZ PSU is because it is semi modular. There is also an OCZ ModXstream Pro 600W that I could pick, but is $10 more. I think 550W should be enough for my system.

Build:

CPU: i5 3570k (overclocking to around 4.2Ghz)
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo
Motherboard: Asrock Extreme4
RAM: 2 x 4GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600mhz
GPU: Sapphire HD7850 OC
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Regular DVDRW drive

Antec VP550W: http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=140&bid=6&sid=82519 - $70
OCZ Fatalt1ty 550W: http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=140&bid=6&sid=61594 - $71
OCZ ModXstream Pro 600W: http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=140&bid=6&sid=59372 - $80

Thanks for any suggestions!

Or you could grab one of these: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=55515&vpn=PPCMK2S750&manufacture=PC%20Power%20%26%20Cooling&promoid=1285 Same price and free shipping also, better quality(silver certified), better warranty(7 years), and higher wattage(750w). You would be good to go for overclocking all components in your system and even be ready for crossfire at some point down the road if you so choose. ;) It's not modular though, but the cables are long and are easy to manage if you have a case that has good cable management capabilities. I had no trouble hiding them in my Zalman Z9 case.

Sincreator: I am limited to umart.com.au, so my selection is limited to those listed above.

I understand the 600W is the better choice, but between the two 550W PSU's, which is better?

Sorry about that. I didn't see the .au after the .com, lol. My brother had a mod x stream pro 700w that died on him after a year, and I've read similar customer reviews about those particular OCZ PSU's.

Is there any other Australian sites you can order from? Be nice to be able to shop around. I agree that you should invest in a 600w+ if you plan on heavy overclocking and/or adding a second card for crossfire, but I can't recommend the modxstream PSU personally.

Unfortunately there are no other stores I can buy it from. Umart has a store 5 minutes away and I am picking everything else up tomorrow. I will be doing fairly moderate overclocking (no more than 4.2ghz) and no crossfire/sli. I suppose the Antec is the way to go over the Fatal1ty? Thanks!

If 550W is enough, I really would like to save as much money as possible.

In your opinion, is the Fatal1ty 550 or Antec 550 the better PSU?

OCZ owns PCP&C, niether of them builds power supplies
The Fatality 550w is built by Sirtec, same as the MSXP, and only rated for 37.5a combined output on those 2 x 25a rails

No need for bigger

Okay guys, I think I'm just going to keep the Antec. I think all the extra cables shouldn't be too much hassle if I just bunch them up in a HDD bay. That's the only reason I would go for the OCZ, but Antec sounds like the more reliable and efficient choice.

Any more input would be appreciated, thanks for your help!
