Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this month

Budget Range: 500 to 600 before shipping

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Starcraft 2, Internet, Videos, word processing

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, the following monitor:
acer 20 inch wide screen 110$ (1600x900)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, planning on buying windows, not included in the 600 dollar budget

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:

Location: City, State/Region, Country - San francisco california

Parts Preferences: All intel compatible full build

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire:No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1600x900

Additional Comments: I am wondering whether an i5 sandy bridge as listed below is overkill or would underperform, and i am puzzled as to what video card would be best for limited gaming and my resolution. primarily used for Sc2, and other student stuff, internet, word processsing.

The parts i have been looking at are:'

GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3V LGA 1155 Intel B75 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i5-2310 Sandy Bridge 2.9GHz (3.2GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 BX80623I52310

AMD FX 4100 processor $110
AM3+ motherboard with a 970 series chipset $90
2 x2 gig of 1600 MHz RAM rated for 1.5 volts $30
500 gig hard drive $75
80+ bronze or better rated 500 watt power supply $60
dvd drive $18
Radeon 6870 graphics card $150
antec ONE case $50

but you'd also need a copy of windows

You can spend more on an intel processor , but it will game WORSE because you have less budget for a graphics card
August 3, 2012 4:26:04 AM

do you think i need a cpu cooler? and if i just decided to spend less and go with the 550 rather than 560 would it matter?
August 3, 2012 4:30:51 AM

if you are not going to overclock with i dont' belive you can no you don't and going with the 550 is fine because starcraft 2 isn't very gpu demanding or cpu for that madder.... and outlander if he only plays starcraft then he will want a better cpu and btw amd fx series is horrible for games...
August 3, 2012 4:33:49 AM

and i would get the 64 bit windows right? im gonna link the build with all of it included

and how can i tell if its pick up in store cuz i dont want that

Yes. well you would have to just go to the link provided to their website and it should say pick up in store only... and about that monitor you will probably want something just a tad biger that is 1920x1080 it will look nicer.

All in all that build looks good. maybe if you can this monitor is super nice

otherwise i guess the monitor you posted is fine
August 3, 2012 4:42:23 AM
