GTX 670 to 680 speeds

How much of a boost would it take to get my stock EVGA 670 to 680 levels? just curious..

They are only a few fps off at stock speeds already... You wouldn't notice the difference in all honesty. Just OC until you can't OC any more and still be stable. Then reduce the clock speed by a bit for the sake of heat, power consumption, and GPU longevity. Your GPU should be close to what a 680 can do.

That is with current drivers. In crysis 2 a 670 gave an average of 64 fps while a 680 gave 69.
Not much but 5fps can still make a difference.

well maybe in numbers, but unless your playing on a 120hz monitor those numbers are not a big deal unless your having serious dips below 60

My suggestion if your using Precision X software up the power target %103-%105, +100 on GPU clock, and like +50-75 on the mem clock. It's a safe and small OC. I own the same video card as you and I have my card overclocked much higher than what I am recommending you and I feel good recommending those small boosts to you. Good luck and don't go crazy with your OC!!!!!!!!!!

easier said then done. The current drivers are F****D up for crysis 2. My framerate is never consistent. So i wont even know when I hit 69 fps or not. And

My V sync is on so my fps are capped at 60. I only want it to go higher so that my drops wouldn't be so bad

The funny thing is that my boost clock is 1058mhz that of a 680 (sometimes it boosts to 1071)

Most people have a boost clock above 1100 (those with a 680)

I tired it and My gameplay was a lot smoother. Im guessing because High resolution texture packs take up a lot of V ram. However my game crashed before I could save my stats so im guessing my OC isn't stable

My 670 FTWs have a boost clock of 1170Mhz (stock speed, not overclocked)

You do know that the FTW edition is the same as a vanilla only factory overclocked with a bigger PCB and better fan? Therefore it is overclocked, just not by you.

BTW : My boost clock is 1150-1159 depending on my temps I overclocked it +100 core and + 71 mem.

it seems to be stable ATM

Yes I do know thank you. I own two vanilla EVGA 670s as well as two EVGA 670 FTWs.

Stock speed = stock speed out of the factory- Core Clock: 1006 MHz Boost Clock: 1084 MHz (compared to the vanilla 670 this is overclocked but for the FTW edition this is stock speed).

Not overclocked = not overclocked by me.

trying this again it seemed to worked and i feel more consistent fps. I guess i was having a cpu bottleneck

My Phenom x4 980 was at 4.2ghz, when i OCed the 670 it must have put more strain on the GPU

I wouldn't think you are bottlenecking with your CPU. Your video card can easily support that OC and more.

EVGA also gives you free software called OC Scanner X. There is a stress test you can use with that software and it will show you any instabilities or artifacts that you might encounter with your OC. Check that out and see how that works for you.

I know I have it but it never puts a large strain on my GPU i havent seen it go over 90 % then again i only used it for like 10 mins
