Im indecise between the evga gtx 550ti sc and the xfx hd7770 black edition. I can get the gtx at 135€ and the hd7770 at 150€. Also my mobo has a pci-e 1.0 port probably since its really old will that affect perfomance? If so by how much, my monitor is 1440x900. Ty in advance

either get a 6870 or a 7770. PCI-e 1 is kinda slow but since your options are not very high end, it wouldnt affect performance that much. just saying, when you have some more cash in the future, get a new computer

I know i need to upgradw my mobo and processor but thats really expensive and doesnt directly affect my performance as much as keeping my hd2600 pro. Also why do you think i shouldnt get the gtx?

the 550ti sucks balls. it will get you medium settings or high in most modern games. since the 6870 performs better than a 560 it is much more worth getting

I cant afford neither the gtx560 nor the 6870 so hd7770? But the 550 is 192 bit and has a higher bandwith, im kind of a new newbie but isnt that good?

nope. how can you not afford a 6870, or a 560. they are around 144.99 after rebates. if you dont like rebates, get a 6850. it is around 129.99 and will outperform the 550ti and be the same as a 560. the 6870 or 6850 has a 256 bit bus

7770 is the same thing as the 6850 overclocked. the 6850 stands around the $130 mark

I did say the initial prices in euros but I understand. Now which 7770 should I get because the xfx black edition seemed great but a lot of people like the saphire one

it doesnt really matter that much since the cards run so cool. i would get sapphire since it does have a vapour chamber for extra extra cooling.

You should do some research into a PCIE 2.1 card in a PCIE 1.0 port man. Just saying.

He's talking about compatibility issues. Without knowing which board he has its hard to say if he'll have issues. Update the bios if you can before you use the new card.

If those are your choices I'd get the 7770. Should be a bit better then the 550TI.

I checked online incluDing the wiki and there shouldnt be any co patibility issues from 3.0 to 1.x but anyway this is my board ga-945gcmx-s2 from gigabyte

Rumor has it some PCIe 2.1 cards had issues in 1.0 slots. I haven't seen this for myself but I've heard it often enough it *must* be true. A G945 board shouldn't have any issues.
