Can I switchout a a faster CPU with a slower one and the back again?

I would like to test my friends older cpu on my mobo to see if it's functional. But I would first like to know if this would mess up my machine in any way or prevent me from switching back to my cpu. any help would we appreciated. Also, if it helps, my CPU is an AMD FX 6100 and my friends is an AMD FX 4170.

Yes you can both processors use socket AM3+ and will work on any of the AM3+ chipsets.

You can switch back at any time but you shouldn't have any problems
