100/66mhz jumpers

hi, i have an older mb from supermicro(p6dbe). now previously it only supported up to i think 500 or 600 cpu speeds, but they stated updating the bios it would support up to 1ghz cpu speeds. one of the things they said in their documentation was to take the jumper off (auto) for the memory. does it HAVE to be off? or could i put the jumper back on to 100mhz. i don't mind at all just trying it, but i want to be sure i won't fry out a whole system or something if anything goes wrong. thanks again.

Setting it at 100 should not hurt a thing. It's the same as letting BIOS detect the chip at 100.
