if you pay a little more attention then you will find that he "is" going to buy an Asus gtx 580.
EDIT:480 is the best(please put a better word here) bang for buck possible at the moment.

@recon-uk could you please post an image of sli setup of 480 and 580 where they both draw same power, may be but do you realize that 480 sli should produce less heat than 580s where as 580s should produce more heat than 480s look at the number series 480 sli draw a power of 580s that is strange beside 580 is newer tech, and they aren't too much identical as you thought.

so getting a best single card instead of those hunger power card isn't that good idea. Do you put maximum load on your beauti card, then check your temps and also hear to noise, btw cook one egg hahaha.

LOL'd... 480's have few less cuda cores "480"..... that is all that is different...

480's and 580's are hardly different in an SLi setup, appart from 580's being faster with better scaling... the price does not warrant a 580 SLi setup over 480's.

bhahahahahahahaha, finally you've changed the logic in the top you mention that they are same and now 580's has better scaling haha, ok you have really good experience.
