Hello, looking at purchasing a new desktop. most of my time will be working or developing databases, spreadsheets but would like to do some video editing. What processor would work best for this. I do not do any hard-core gaming other than flight sims

Depends on your budget. If you post an approximate price range it would be helpful. I can say having 6 or 8 cores for your CPU would be optimal.

Once again, depends on your budget. If you have a sub £100/$150 budget, consider an AM3+ CPU such as the FX-6300. If you have a high budget, consider something like the Intel Core i5 3570K. Be aware, you can pick up a good AM3+ motherboard for about £40/$60, while a Z77 board for the i5 may set you back about £70/$120.
