More about 4300 2120
  1. i would go with a intel cpu because u have better processers in intel if u want to upgrade i want more perfomance than amd fx 8350 but i cant get any because there is no better cpu from amd so go with intel
  2. but is the fx 4300 any good for gaming and editing

I would go for AMD FX 6300 it is only 10$ expensiver than the AMD FX 4300 and it's better than the i3-3220. So it will be better than the i3-2120 in gaming and in multi-threaded apps which most are nowadays.

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/6396/the-vishera-review-amd-fx8350-fx8320-fx6300-and-fx4300-tested/5

Here you can see the performance.
  4. i live in australia and im only in the budget of a fx 4300
  5. well get the 4300 and a good cooler, and overclock it , your gonna get some nice performance out of it if u do, ;)
  6. and i have a the cm hyper tx3 evo
  7. thats an ok cpu cooler, it will do the job but will limit ur overclock compared to a hyper 212+evo
  8. i did want to get a h40
  9. well that would help with overclock, def keep the temperatures down :)
  10. actually is the fx 4100 any good
  11. its decent but, u already have a decent mobo, whynot upgrade to an i5 instead? the stock performance is alot better than the fx.

    depends on u.

    and your budget
  12. with my motherboard is not a z77 motherboard and wanted to get a fx and overclocking motherboard and so i can overclock the fx 4300 or fx 4100 and i live in australia so the the i5 are pricey

    NO, NO, NO, NO.

It's very bad, NEVER buy a bulldozer CPU.

I don't know why you can't spend 10$ more on a CPU. It's your choice though FX 4300 is still a decent CPU.
  14. ok then i will stick with the fx 4300 cpu
  15. tbh u wont be gaining huge performance gains in games on that 4300 but for multitasking and multi-threaded programs yes.

up to u dude :), but id say save ur money for a quadcore i5-i7 or i guess get the 4300 if u can only afford that.
  16. If you already have an i3 + H77, don't switch platforms, true AMD has some comparable products but its not worth switching to.

    He doesn't.
  18. hes got an i3 2120+h77 dude, read whats in his sig :)

Then this thread makes no sense at all.
  20. Keep your current board and get an i5 3570...
  21. If it is within your budget, and since you have a 6950 as video card, this processor will do good for your BIT of gaming and it will do good too for video editing. Especially if it allows you to get 4 more Go of RAM. As one has suggested, the 6300, if 10$ more will make more difference with 2 more core compared to the 4300 for video editing.
  22. he says his budget doesnt permit it, but doesnt make sense since hes buying a new board + processor and he can afford an i5 3570 for the price of a amd board+fx 4300

Yea exactly hes saying he will buy a $90 motherboard with the 4300... the 4300 is about $130... so he has $220 to spend.. He should just get an i5...
  24. final recommandation in my mind is get a new i5 like the 3570, best bang for ur bucks and will outperform that amd ur thinking about getting.
  25. the i5 3570k is 225 dollars aud and the fx 4300 is 135 dollars and all wanted to do i to overclock and since i cant overclock the i3 and on my i cant overclock it thats why wanted to change over
  26. I5 not overclocked is still better... you will still get the turbo
  27. yea but i do want to overclock the fx 4300 cpu and anyway i keeping the i3 cpu and motherboard just wanted to see how far i could get with the fx 4300 overclocked
  28. The FX 4300 is 135 + the cost of a motherboard for around the same performance of an i3, even if you overclock it to 5+Ghz its still not worth it. You will just be wasting money by going that route.

If you truly just want to see what the 4300 is capable of then just go read a review. Spending money like water is just stupid imo.
  29. buying the i5 chip is gonna be the same ammount of money and will destroy that dx 4300, so yeah thumbs down not worth it bro, if ur gonna upgrade get that i5,
  30. hey can you overclock on this board Asrock Z68 Motherboard Extreme 3 Gen 3

Yes, every current board with the "Z" moniker can overclock. How well depends on the quality of components and the cooling of the chipsets/mosfets/etc. That board is decent. I can't think of a reason to grab a Z68 board since Z77 is usually the same price + has a few nifty features.

I would hold off on the board for now and just grab an i5 2500k/3570k.
  32. or i could get a i5 3570 for 202 dollars or for 190 dollars used

True, you expressly stated overclocking was a big deal for you multiple times. You didn't seem opposed to the idea of swapping out your motherboard. The 3570 is at 202 and the 3570K is at 215, being able to overclock some time in the future seems like a good deal for only 13 bucks more.

Edit: ah you edited your post, I never buy used parts and certainly not for a measly 10 dollars off the cost a new part.
  34. I have to agree with all, the i5-3570 is much better and even with the FX-4300 overclocked, it won't reach the i5-3570, in any application, what you'll have is a hot cpu and a higher power consumption unnecessarily by oc.
If you had a am3+ board that would've make sense, but you have a h77 so get the i5.
    See the big difference :

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/fx-8350-8320-6300-4300_5.html#sect1 (comparing the FX-4300 with the i5-3470)
  35. its like 225 bucks more i5 3570k he would the i5 3470 be ok then
  36. I'm talking about the i5-3570 or 3470 for your mobo that's all you need, you don't need to spend in another mobo(z77), just get those one of those two.
And still it's better by miles than the FX-4300 even oc, see the chart.

I was basing it off of current newegg prices and what you stated the 3570 was at.
  38. any k model will let u overclock, if its non k u wont be able to overclock :)

get the highest k model u can afford, u wont need to overclock it cuz stock speed will be blazing fast
  39. Get this one : http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=9376

    Best bang for your buck.
  40. ok i will get that cpu
  41. get this one if u want an unlocked overclockable version

    http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=8967

about 20$ more but worth it if u ever plan on overclocking
  42. yea but if i wanted to overclock i would need to change my board
  43. if u cant afford go with the non k, its plenty performance for the price,
  44. ive got a 2500 non k at 3.3 gigahertz and its blazing fast, so i wouldnt worry :)
  45. ok i will just keep my i3 and get a fx 4300 and bench vs to my i3 2120 and because i have heard that the fx 4300 can beat the i3 3320 and but its just the power compsuer i dont really care aout the power it uses i just wanted have a good overclocking system i could bench fx 4300 vs i3 2120
  46. :O

But you'll need a new mobo and cpu for benchmark ?? :O
    Are you trolling ?
Just get the i5-3470 for 185$ aus.
  47. Lol this is pointless, he wants to waste money... Leave him be.
  48. no im not trolling
