This is a cut and paste message from some other sites I have posted this on, but I just wanted to warn everybody about ACER..
I just wanted to inform the Mad Onion/HARDOCP/TWEAK3D/Tom's Hardware/LINUX
community about my experience with ACER peripherals. I bought a new
monitor an ACER 77C in Mar of 1999.
Since then the service department has seen the monitor 5 times.
The first time they fixed their substandard parts they said it was a power
spike when I told them I had a surge protector they said "OH !".
The next two times I sent it in, they said the same thing ! LMFAO !!!
I informed the Tech that I had a surge protector, so a spike wasn't possible!
He said "Yeah, you're right"
The fourth time I sent it in, they said it wasn't a spike it was a drop in
power, so I told them about my UPS, and the Tech said "Yeah you're right!"
The fifth time I sent it in they said it was to "Too dirty, and thats what
smoked the the picture tube !
Since Acer seems to pass the buck on warranty
( a 3 year parts and labour deal) on anything that comes to mind,
Don't ya think a service department that has seen a "dirty" monitor
5 times , that they would tell the customer that their precious monitor
isn't running in a surgical, sterile Operating room environment. But
as a home user/smoker (just one smoker) , that the smoke could climb up
two floors and kill an IC board.......
ACER Quality is job NONE !!!!!!!!!!!
