The 7770 is only 1 step up from what you have right now as far as performance goes. Need to get more horsepower to really notice the difference

what are you suggesting? With the 4870 if I want smooth gameplay I need to play at low settings @ 1920x1080

To run online bf3 at 50-60fps on max settings you need a 7850. This is the only one i can find close to your budget:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HIS-HD-7850-2GB-GDDR5-DVI-HDMI-Dual-Mini-DisplayPort-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-/290727135184?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item43b0b007d0#ht_2319wt_1139

If you can't do ebay, something like: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-299-SP
would give you around 40 - 45fps in bf3 online at max graphics. Especially if you oc a bit.

Well I mean I suppose I could buy it from ebay but is it worth it and is it safe?

I've never had a problem with ebay. As long as you stick with good buyers and are buying new stuff, it should be fine. Worst case, you have to return it within 5 days of receiving it and pay shipping.

And yeah, the 7850 is significantly better than the 6950.

Alright but also http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-030-C3&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1752 has 1408 cores as oppose to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HIS-HD-7850-2GB-GDDR5-DVI-HDMI-Dual-Mini-DisplayPort-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-/290727135184?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item43b0b007d0 that has 1024 cores

The 7850 is still faster. Core count and clock speed only count for so much, benchmarks show the real differences. Also the 7850 uses far less power and OCs very well.

If you're not comfortable with ebay, go with the sapphire 6950 I linked but the 7850 is a better deal.
