Has anybody else heard about some kind of file or patch you can use to burn a dvd onto a cd-r so that it tricks to dvd player into seeing it as a dvd. I hope this is true so that I don't have to wait for the price of dvd-r's to come down I can just use my cd-r!

Just think when the price comes down and all the bugs are worked out it will be obsolete!

It's not possible, actually, nothing is impossible...rather, its improbable. Go do some research about DVD drives, lasers, DVDs, CDRs, etc...and you'll realize.

Here's two sites that you can visit ... perhaps you'll find what you are looking for at one of them.

http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/

http://perso.libertysurf.fr/dvdutils/content.htm

Be forewarned ... it can take a heck of a long time to get the entire DVD onto a couple of CD-R's! (Like 10 to 12 hours.) But it takes less time if you leave off the special features, like the menu's.

Hey ... Stick_e_Mouse!

The process to do this, and the tools, have been available for quite a while.

Sorry, but I didn't get to explore the sites very much. I just want to know if you are talking about DivX, VCD, and other video formats. Or is there a real way to make exact *.vob onto CDRs and play them on regular set-top boxes as well as PC DVD drives without the need of special players, codecs, plugins, etc. If there is a real way to do it, I'd like to know as well. (Im not talking about DivX, etc.)
