Help needed 6600 earpiece volume problem

I have had a Nokia 6600 for 6 weeks now not being that technically minded I
have just increased the earpiece volume because I found it quiet, but the
top two levels have crackling/distortion I have mailed 02 who I got the
phone from see below:

I upgraded in June to a Nokia 6600 I get a distortion when the volume for
the earpiece is in the top two levels, I need it at these levels due to
noisy environment.

With regards to your 6600 being distorted when you increase the volume to
the top two bars, unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that
problem, which ever phone you have if the volume is increased to the very
top you will get some distortion.

My previous Nokia phones 5130, 6150, 6210, and 6310i have all been operated
on maximum earpiece volume, never with any distortion, I find it very hard
to believe that Nokia would put volume levels on a phone that cannot be used
satisfactory, I can only think that this is a fault with this 6600 phone or
a fault with this model range, I would like this to be rectified, please
advise me how this can be achieved.

With regards to your nokia 6600 they sound quality does vary on different
makes and model of handsets. As they volume raise on the handset distortion
may occur. We do not believe that this is a faulty with the handset.

Does anyone else have the same problem, the distortion is bad enough for me
not to want to use the higher levels but then I cannot hear properly with
background noise, as mentioned in my mails to O2 none of my previous Nokias
had this problem on full volume.
