My current mobo is the Biostar MCP6P M2+, and I want to upgrade my CPU. Is the AMD Athlon II X4 645 Propus compatible with this board?

I was looking on Biostar's site, and it says that the Athlon II x4 x645 is compatible, does that mean that this processor will work? I was confused by this, because its a am2+ board, and the 645 is a am3 processor.

Can someone help me clear this up? :)

am3 CPU's work on am2+ motherboards because am2+ has both ddr2 and ddr3 support. but you might wanna upgrade to ddr3 ram for that matter. you can get 4gb for $25 on newegg along with it. May I ask what Cpu you are upgrading from?
