Hi all,

I have a problem with the Windows XP PCI IRQs.
they are almost all set to IRQ 9 in Windows XP.
That seems to me very strange & some non sens but despite of my system works fine.

Here is my PCI Listing IRQs from the Bios when booting & in Windows XP:

------------------------- BIOS ---- WINDOWS XP
IDE controller ------------ 14/15 -------- 14/15
Serial bus controller ------ 9 ------------ 9
Multimedia device -------- 9 ------------ 9 (sb Live!)
Input device ------------- NA ----------- 12
Mass storage controller --- 5 ------------ 9 (Adaptec 2940 UW)
Mass storage controller --- 10 ----------- 9 (onboard Promise raid)
Display controller --------- 11 ----------- 9 (AIW Radeon)

My ring is:

Asus A7v133 Raid
TB 1.333@1.533
Infineon CAS2 256Mb
IBM 60GXP
AIW Radeon AGP
sb Live!
Adaptec 2940 UW

thanks all who know something about this problem.

if you know you don't know, the way could be more easy.

It's not a problem; it's a feature!

The second link is also applicable for WinXP.

En réponse à:

ACPI IRQS Steering to IRQ 9

but is this mechanism involve a decrease in terms of performances ?

there is a method to bypass ACPI, is to disable it in the Bios.

with this method, can we increase WinXP performances ?

in other words is ACPI has an impact on the WinXP performances ?

What do you think about ?

thanks.

I have not seen any evidence that there is a decrease in the performance level of any kind of hardware or software with ACPI handling the system resources, or because advanced PCI sharing is enabled. In fact, I am under the impression that the reverse is true.

ACPI OS- Benefits to Users

The virtual elimination of IRQ conflicts with ACPI makes Plug and Play a workable feature since it was first introduced to consumers, and that in itself is an excellent reason to avoid using a Standard HAL, as long as your hardware is ACPI-compatible.

Microsoft highly recommends against disabling ACPI except for those situations in which you have no other choice.

You mentioned that your system is working fine. Then, IMHO, you have absolutely nothing to worry about, in terms of performance, or otherwise.
