Hey Tom's Hardware forum!

I'm building a gaming PC for my friend and he said he wants it to be right about at $1,000, maybe give or take $40. On the other hand, he said he wants it to be a beast of a system.

I am looking at going with an Intel IvyBridge set up and using liquid cooling (which would be fun for me to put together), but here are the components I have so far. He needs an OS, power supply, e.g., the entire 9 yards. Whatever you all can come up with to help me cut down the price a couple hundred bucks and keep strong performance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your great responses!

you don't need blu-ray get him this
liquid cooling is also a do not need its nice but expensive and risks your system I'd get this it also comes with good enough thermal paste
16 gb of ram is too much you will VERY RARELY use more than 8gb id get this also since thats for sticks its probably quad channel and with a z77 board you want dual chanel ram like the one i sent
full towers are nice but on a budget they are just not needed you could get this or this for a good sub
thats probably all id change unless youd want to go to an i7 and mabye get a 560 ti but you're good where your at thats a good CPU either way
