System Usage from Most to Least Important: , surfing & games on the Internet, music & games

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: New build

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg

That Gigabyte cooler on the GTX 670 pumps air back into the case, where the fans have to deal with it. No need for a 650W 80+ gold PSU. Those are a waste of $. No need for an Extreme4 if you're not CF/SLIng.

Try this:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($234.99 @ Newegg Canada)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 612 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($49.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Pro3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($129.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($56.49 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Storage: Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card ($429.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Case: Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($139.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Power Supply: Antec 500W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($20.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Total: $1232.41

For some reason, these parts are cheaper overall in Canada. :o

Downgrade the power supply, there is no reason to get such an expensive one:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

That saves you $60 (as opposed to http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...)

You do not need such an expensive DVD drive either. Go with this one:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1682...

Another $15 saved. Plus $20 budget you have to $1500, that comes as $95 extra.

I highly recommend using that money to buy a larger SSD: you will benefit a lot from it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Finally, the case: I'd choose the one you like the looks more. Both of the chosen cases are good quality, and it comes down to your preference.

I'd definitely second all of these suggestions. I personally do not feel that you need an SSD above 128GB if you've got a 1 or 2TB hard drive as your secondary, but do what you like.

I'd go with the Corsair 500R as your case, and I'd also suggest this as your PSU: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

This PSU uses the Seasonic platform and it's got a 7 year warranty where most Corsair have a 3 - 4 year warranty at best.

On my first post, I didn't realize they didn't add the SSD, so here it is:
Crucial M4 128GB SSD.

Total is around $1350.

I personally don't care for warranties. As long as it is good quality, I am good, cuz good quality units are far less likely to be DOA.

Trust me - I know far too well what it's like to get burned by bad hardware, and if something goes wrong, I want a replacement for it immediately. Corsair does have one of the best RMA departments around - I had a CX430 fry on me, and I sent it into Corsair, they sent me a brand new one with the box. I'm currently using it as a spare in case something else goes wrong with one of my systems.

The only thing I don't care about warranty on is a monitor. I can take that risk.

That Corsair has a 7 year Warrenty and its not the 'gold' model.

I'd go with my build as it is a good balance of power and price.

You have a Microcenter over in Tustin (Orange County) and Amazon still gets tax breaks in Cali as long as they don't use a Cali based vendor. Something to think about.

The above build is better than mine, since he posted deals that are better and has more "street" knowledge. :)

Pretty much decided on the list below. I omitted prices as I don't want to shop around, rather just grab the bundle and proceed. What I am more interested in is will the below parts work in harmony and be a good computer. Ihe only thing I was on the fence over was the size of the ssd. Maybe smaller ..but looking to the future can't hurt. Thanks for all the input and will order these soon if they look good.
