I have the first CPU, and I want to upgrade to the second CPU. And, is a Core 2 Duo E6 Series better than the PD945 ? Will It make a big difference on my system a Core 2 than the PD945 ? My system is: 2GB of RAM, Nvidia 9500GT, 80 + 160 GB of HDD on a MB Intel 945GZM S2

A Core 2 Duo is significantly better than a Pentium D, but both are pretty old now. If you can afford it, it would be better to just get a new system.

About the lowest end of the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo would outperform the highest of the Intel Pentium® 4 processors or the Intel Pentium® D even if they were much faster.
