Hey there, first off wanted to say thanks to this site and all you posters, this is my first build and I've been using your site to get answers about all the different gpu's and cpu' etc.

So I was wondering if you guys think this would be a decent build? Primarily intended for gaming. I wanted to keep it under $1000 and succeeded.

GPU:

CPU:

PSU:

RAM: I can't find the ram I'm using right now, but its 1 8gb 1600 stick, I think it was either vengeance or ripjaws. (I remember it being either red or blue in color)

Do you live near a Microcenter?

Well I was thinking of trying to call newegg and see if they'll price match microcenters offer, if not I know someone who lives near one who can mail it to me. It'd still come out cheaper than the ~$230 newegg charges for the cpu

No, they don't price match, sadly. Good idea. I'd also ask him to buy a motherboard at microcenter too. The Intel motherboard brands are bland in features and too overpriced. Get the Z77 Extreme4 or the Pro3 if not CF/SLIng.

Yeah the motherboard was the only thing I was really unsure about. I'm having trouble distinguishing the differences between them so I just chose a genuine intel to match up with the intel CPU. Those two motherboards you named, what are their benefits? Also, what if I am considering SLI'ing in the future?

They are cheaper and have more features. Z77 Extreme4 if considering it in the future.

By the price it seems like a low end motherboard. How important is the motherboard for my build?

Price doesn't make something good or bad.

Yep. Most features it has are mainly on $200+ motherboards (except Intel Box motherboards).
